Passionate People // Wednesday Paper Works

It might sound a little cheesy, but visiting the workshop of Wednesday Paper Works is like visiting another world. MONOQI asked me to visit Chrish and Jenny for an interview and of course I couldn’t resist to agree, especially since I really love to spend time with passionate people, like these girls.

Their workshop is located in Berlin Kreuzberg and I know a lot of people who’d pay almost a fortune to live in a house like this. The mix of old and new, traditional and modern machines, digital stuff and (of course) tons of wonderful paper is really adorable.

So we spend a couple of hours at an old desk and chatted about life, passion, work and even about cars. Chrish is a graphic designer who worked for different publishing companies. She is just brilliant in typography and has an impressing sense for good design. It’s really heart warming to see such well arranged products and of course this is not just her work. Jenny is her sister and she’s a bookbinder who really knows her business.

Both are struggling to find out how far they can go within the boundaries set by the manufacturing processes without limiting their own creativity or the quality of the products. I have to admit, I didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about notebooks and journals until then. But I really fell in love with their works and ideas.

It was a great day, I still love this desk and wish I’d own it.
